Private 5G · with Nokia
We design private cellular networks for industrial plants, logistics centres and environments that need control over coverage, capacity and how traffic is processed. We bring radio planning, RAN and 5G Core components, IT/OT integration and an operations model together in one architecture.
We design and deploy private cellular networks based on Nokia private wireless solutions – from the workshop and coverage analysis, through a pilot, to maintenance.
When private 5G makes sense
Forklifts, AGVs and terminals that must not lose connection between zones.
Racks, metal structures and changing stock levels that make coverage unpredictable.
Separating production, OT, video and office traffic, with SIM/eSIM-based access control.
Two entry points
Private 5G works where mobility, control over the network and predictable communications are part of the operational process. We start with measurements and use cases and finish with a pilot that has measurable acceptance criteria.
Halls, high-bay warehouses, ports and yards: vehicles in motion, scanners, sensors and video on one predictable network, integrated with WMS, MES and SCADA.
Large sites and teams on the move: voice, camera video and telemetry on a network under the organisation's control. Scope depends on spectrum access and pilot results. Mobile communications
Comparison
| Criterion | Wi-Fi | Private 5G |
|---|---|---|
| Mobility | Good in offices; roaming between access points needs careful configuration. | Handover between cells is part of the standard – important for vehicles and moving devices. |
| Wide-area coverage | Many access points and dense cabling. | Usually fewer radio points for the same area, depending on band and environment. |
| Predictability | Shared spectrum with surrounding devices. | Managed radio resources and QoS policies – with proper design and spectrum access. |
| Devices | Broad, low-cost ecosystem. | Requires modules supporting the right bands – compatibility must be checked. |
Radio design
Site visit → environment model → radio plan → simulation and measurements → pilot → validation. Before a decision we check:
A spectrum access model in line with current regulations and the site's options.
Supported bands, radio modules and SIM/eSIM; 5G gateways or routers where needed.
Power for radio units and the core, including backup power for critical tasks.
Transport to the core and the organisation's systems: the organisation's existing links, Starlink PNI L2/L3 or SD-WAN – depending on the design.
WMS, MES, SCADA, monitoring and security policy – scope agreed in the workshop.
Architecture
We work with Nokia private wireless solutions and other carrier-grade technologies, selected to suit the site, devices and operations model.
Not always. The choice depends on coverage, mobility, devices, throughput, the radio environment and cost. A mixed architecture is often the right answer.
An architecture with a local core and local user plane keeps traffic processing on your premises. The available scope depends on the chosen system, licences and management model.
That depends on supported bands, radio modules and SIM/eSIM support. We verify compatibility during the workshop and propose 5G gateways where needed.
In a few hours we will go through use cases, devices, site conditions and security requirements – and decide whether private 5G makes sense for you.
